Come On Out to the Park
FLSSP would like to invite you to renew your bond with our incredible local state park - Lake Sammamish State Park - this February. In this deep winter as we wait patiently for spring to emerge the park is a beautiful quiet place to reflect on our incredible world around us and to help us find gratitude for what we have and what is ahead of us. We have some exciting events coming up that can help inspire you to get outside and join us at the park to learn more about the bounty around us.
This February we invite you to join us for some fun events at the park. We kick off our Lakeside Lecture series this February 4th with an exciting talk from David B. Williams about the geology of our area and how it framed the world in which we live. This event does take place in the evening after dusk, but it will be held in the enclosed and heated Meadows Shelter so please come join us at the park! You can find more information here. We also have a few slots left to learn about the use of poplar bud oil at our first event in our Gathering Abundance Series this 2026. You can find more information about the event here and register to attend today.
If you want a fun and relaxing way to put the park on the map on your own time you can also join in the Great Backyard Bird Count this Feb 13 - 16th. We could use your help to put Lake Sammamish State Park on the map by coming on out during this time and counting birds at the park. There are so many birds to see at the park this winter and the Great Backyard Bird Count is a fun way to stay engaged, join community around the world, and help inform science just by counting some birds. To learn more about the Great Backyard Bird Count and how you can help please visit the website here.
As we move into March and the first official days of spring we would love to see you at our event Spring into Adventure on March 28th. We still have vendor and artist spots available if you would like to showcase your work at Lake Sammamish State Park. Learn more here about vendor registration for Spring into Adventure. Additionally, we will be partnering with Art Commons to host one of their the Creative Summit talks at the park this March 14th. It is sure to be an interesting conversation about art in “The Fallow Season.” Registration will open soon, but mark your calendars now. If you want hands on work consider joining us for our first restoration event of the year on March 21st. Let us know we can count on you to help us at the park by registering here.
We can’t wait to see you at the Park this winter and spring and for you to share in the beauty and bounty that surrounds us.
