Welcoming in 2026!
Thank you to our community for joining Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park to welcome in the New Year on January 1st at Polar Plunge! Polar Plunge has become an amazing annual celebration welcoming over 400+ community members to Lake Sammamish State Park to partake in the fun and merriment of a first day hike and frigid jump in the lake. We had a great time celebrating with our community as we welcomed in 2026!
We are anticipating a wonderful year ahead of us at the park with the continuation of some of our favorite annual traditions including Spring into Adventure (March 28th), Walk n’ Wag in May and Camp Smore, and some great community programs that we can’t wait to welcome you to including our Gathering Abundance series and our Lakeside Lecture series.
In the next few months we hope you consider joining Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park at the park for some fun adventures.
Our first Lakeside Lecture on” The Secrets of Lake Sammamish Geology” will be on Feb. 4th from 5 - 7 pm and feature a talk by David B. Williams on the geology of our surrounding community. This is a free public event open to all ages. We encourage you to register to attend here so we can ensure we have a seat set up for you in the enclosed and heated Meadows Shelter.
We also have the first of our Gathering Abundance Series on Feb. 15th from 10 am - noon. In this class we will explore the Balm of Gilead and learn about making an infused poplar oil. There are limited seats for this event so we encourage you to register here as soon as possible - seats are filling fast!
Mark your calendars now for March 28th and join us at Lake Sammamish State Park for Spring into Adventure! This fun event will feature a multitude of partners and vendors to get you ready for a fun, healthy, and relaxing spring and summer. Come learn about all the fun opportunities that await you in and around King County this spring and summer at Spring into Adventure!
