Celebrate the Start of Summer June 21st at the Park
Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park is celebrating the start of summer this weekend June 21st with a full day of activities at the park from restoration work in the morning, art and crafting in the afternoon, and an evening of sound at Sunset Beach.
Starting at 10 am - noon we will be out this weekend continuing to work on our restoration sites at the park. We will be working to pull blackberry and clean out the sites as we get them ready for mulch and planting in the fall. If helping us restore the park one acre at a time sounds like a great way to kick off your summer we would love to have you join us - register here today.
If you prefer a more creative endeavor to start your summer we will be hosting our first ARTDoors of the season this Saturday, June 21st from 1 - 3 pm near Sunset Beach. ARTDoors is a drop in style event where you can come anytime during our open hours to craft in community with others at the park. We will have a planned activity lead by a local artist or you are welcome to bring your own supplies to work on your own masterpiece. We welcome all ages to come make art in the park this summer. To learn more please visit our events page here.
We will finish the evening celebrating the solstice with sound. From 7 - 9 pm on Saturday, June 21st at Sunset Beach two local sound bowl artist, Katrina Surdi of Kami Soul Healing and Nate Jorgenson of Om with Nate, will guide you through an evening of resonant vibrations, creating a serene space for deep relaxation while overlooking Lake Sammamish. This is a special chance to reconnect with yourself and the profound beauty of nature through an immersive sound experience. Bring your towel, mat, or chair and simply be present to welcome in the season.
We can’t wait for you to come experience the park this summer season and we hope to see you at one of our events on Saturday, June 21st!
