Come Play at Lake Sammamish State Park-Celebrating Women and Girls in Sports Day

Written by Sarah Polster Tribble, FLSSP Operations Manager

February 7th is the 38th annual National Women and Girls in Sports Day; a day to honor and acknowledge the accomplishments of girls and women in sports in the past and to inspire girls and women to play and be active in the future.

Participation in sport at any level and at any age can build confidence, foster friendships, and hone leadership skills. Many skills developed on a sports field translate well into empowering women and girls off the field as well.

To honor National Women and Girls in Sports Day, FLSSP would like to highlight sporting opportunities for women and girls that can be found in and around Lake Sammamish State Park:

  • Kayak Academy: Courses that allow beginners to soon become better paddlers than most kayakers with years of experience. No other courses compare. Learn more here: Kayak Academy

  • Issaquah FC: Youth programs provide opportunities to play soccer for kids, ages 5 -18, at the level they choose to play, from recreational to premier, and all levels in-between. Learn more here: Issaquah FC

  • Sammamish Rowing Association (SRA): Adult and youth programming invite everyone to discover a passion for rowing, explore personal potential, and celebrate team success. Learn more here: SAMMAMISH ROWING ASSOCIATION
